Welcome curlers to the 2026 Petersen 55+ Open Bonspiel registration site. This year's spiel will take place 21 to 23 October - Wednesday to Friday. Based on previous year's participation we are predicting a 12 or 16 team spiel. Draws will start at 0830 or 0900, depending on the number of teams. Preliminary planning is for a lunch on Thursday for all curlers, plus lighter sandwich fare on Friday noon. Prize money will be won per game, with additional payouts for event winners. Entry fees is $80 per person.

Note that Bob will be away for the period 11 to 27 September, Registrations will be confirmed the week of September 27 in the order they are received on this web site. This site will be updated as spiel decisions are made.

Show Teams
1. All Curlers must be 55 + and an active curling member of a B.C. Club.
2. The 5 rock, free guard zone rule is in effect.
3. All games shall be played in accordance with the Canadian Curling Association Rules.
4. All games should be eight (8) ends. Games should be completed in 2 hours, but no end can be started 2 hours after the draw start time. Draw start times are 0930 and 1300.
5. If one member of a team is delayed, prior to commencing play with three players, the consent of the opposing skip must be obtained to allow the member who is late to occupy their position.
6. Spares shall not be a member of any other team, which has been eliminated or not, in the Bonspiel.
7. Ties will be decided by a one rock draw to the button. Only the throwing team will be on the ice. The team that scored last shoots first.
8. Semi-finals & finals will be decided by extra end in event of a tie.
9. Teams must play at least 6 ends of all games to have games counted and/or prize money awarded.
10. No finals prize money will be awarded prior to the award ceremony without the approval of the entire bonspiel committee.
