Curler of the Year 2019-2020
Bob has been a member of the Esquimalt Curling Club for many years. He has held many positions of office at both the league and club levels and currently holds office as part of the executive of the Rebels' League. Bob has been president of the club, president and past president of the Rebels' League, and has sat as a director at large on the club board as well as the Rebels' and White Ensign leagues.
Most recently, Bob has been instrumental in organizing and attending the Rebels' functions and regularly attends league games. Bob is a tireless promoter of the sport, and in the last two years has been instrumental in increasing the Rebels' League membership from 8 teams to 12.
Bob demonstrates good sportsmanship, respecting fellow curlers and the congenial nature of the sport. In 2009, Bob was chosen for the Canadian team to go to Scotland for a month-long curling event as part of the Strathcona Cup, the oldest international curling event. Bob abides by the code of curling ethics and is a role model in this area.
In addition to all this, Bob helps contribute to the betterment of the Esquimalt Curling Club by helping wherever he can. For example, he has helped the ice makers put in the ice, as well as being a volunteer at the Kevin Martin event.
We can all agree that Bob is very deserving of this award and I'm honoured to able to present him with Curler of the Year for the 2019/2020 season.
